“And I say,
‘Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest;
Yes, I would wander far away;
I would lodge in the wilderness;’
Selah”
Psalm
55:6-7
When the tough times come,
like David, we have all entertained this same yearning. Trouble and conflict
cause us to want to run away and hide… far away, even to the wilderness, where
there is no one to hurt us anymore. We imagine it to be peaceful and we would
surely find happiness with a geographic change of scenes.
The truth is, rest from the storm is
not achieved by flying away. Instead peace is found as we run into
Christ. He is our shelter; our hiding place and our peace. He is
our very present help in time of trouble.
As we run to be with Papa God, as we sit upon His lap, there, and only there we truly find peace. That absence of turmoil, though there may be turmoil all around us. I use to allow the tumultuous situations run my life. Now, I don't. I have a place to run to and Someone to run into. And it is wonderful.
I turn my eyes toward You.
Draw me into Your heart. Restore peace as I trust in You.
Come all you who are weary and heavy
laden and I will give you Shalom. - Jesus
